Hello Renegade!

It’s been a week or so since I last chatted with you…

I needed a recharge, and to get focused on our next big push!

So, thanks for being patient with me.

I wanted to share a quick story that touched me pretty deeply today…

It has to do with being grateful for what is around you.

What It Means To Be A Renegade

Tonight was date night for my girlfriend and I…

I know, you might be a little young to get this, but date night is something we cherish very much.

You see, we are both people who work very intently at our passions, so each week we make sure to slow down and make sure that the most important thing is family and staying close as a couple.

We have been together for many years, and she is truly a RENEGADE.

I was reminded of this, because we were sitting eating our dinner and another couple overheard us discussing plans for her graduation party next month.

They introduced themselves and thanked her for becoming a doctor. For working so hard.

Then, when we tried to pay, the couple had paid for our date night.

We thanked them and after hugs and exchanging stories, the couple told us that they simply admired people who don’t settle for average…

They looked for Renegades…

And my girlfriend is that for sure… a Renegade.

Now, is she great at soccer?

No, she is terrible. Never played organized soccer in her life…

But, she is graduating from medical school this May.

So, let me tell you a few things about her, and maybe you can see why she is one of us…

For the past eight years, she has focused on family and school.

Yes, she has very good, close friends, but when you get straights A’s…

Literally not even an A-, let alone a B ever in college…

It takes a level of discipline almost nobody understands.

When her friends could go out, she stayed in to study, work a few more problems, or watch extra lectures…

When others slept in, or got to watch TV all night, she was pouring through flash cards, rewriting her notes, or reading books inches thick…

And, when she did have time to relax, many times she would drive the two hours to come spend the weekend with my daughter and I, or with her younger sister and mother…

School…

Family…

There is no mediocre, or middle of the pack in her life…

She is a Renegade through and through…

If soccer would have been her passion, I have no doubt she would have been excellent at that also.

Focus…

Discipline…

Sacrifice…

Effort…

Passion…

Everyone’s Paths Have Obstacles and Setbacks

Was it an easy path for her? Nope.

There were many trying times…

Many moments where distractions and diversions called like sirens to sailors of old…

Impossible to ignore by many…

SEC football games, incredible parties, nightlife any night of the week, or even just hanging with friends…

Cars that didn’t start, drama with family and friends…

And yes, I am SURE that I was a pain from time to time…

Sound familiar?

Sound a little like your life?

The question becomes, what do you do when life throws you these setbacks?

Do you waiver from your goals?

Do you lose focus?

Time to Change Your Story

So, when life tosses you some obstacles, what is the story you are creating?

Is it the story a hero creates?

Or, are you making reasons for not creating results?

I could have been good, but the coach just didn’t see my skill… (because coaches don’t want to win)

I don’t really have time to master my skills… (but I am up to date on the latest mini-series, Facebook, and Snapchat)

I’m not fast enough… (but I never lift weights, because it will make me too big and bulky for soccer)

I’m not fit enough… (and have never seen the sun rise while doing roadwork in the morning)

And on, and on, and on…

Reasons…

Or Results…

It’s time for you to change your story…

Tonight…

Right now…

You control what the story of your life is going to be…

On the pitch, and off…

This week is the first chapter of your new story…

Have you done your Sunday Ritual and set up this next week?

Made sure that you will get your studies and your soccer touches in?

If you aren’t going to write your story, trust me, somebody else will…

Other people, life’s setbacks, and luck will write your tale…

Or, you can choose your own path…

The path of a Renegade.

You can write your own story…

I hope…

I truly hope…

You decide to write your own tale…

Where you take control, and you become the hero…

It will be a great tale…

So Why Am I Grateful?

Tonight I am grateful for my family…

A great daughter, and an amazing girlfriend.

I am grateful for you…

It is my dream that your story to be incredible… and amazing story…

And maybe, something I say will help you through a time when maybe you waiver from your dreams…

Maybe RST can help you stay on track…

I am grateful for my friends…

They put up with me!

And tonight, I am grateful for a kind couple from Michigan who made my girlfriend feel very special tonight…

And reminded me what a Renegade she is…

So, what are you grateful for?

And, what is your story for this week?

Reasons?

Or Results?

Talk to you tomorrow!

All the best!
